  • My best paved mountain vehicle every

    We drove over 2000 miles in four states Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. We drove mountains roads, on flat roads and also cities. Great vehicle for driving on paved mountain roads, goes up and down great, at 40 mpg or more ! Hybrid will hold just about any speed up and down . I drove up Vale Pass east of Vale, Colorado (at 70 to 75 mph, gas motor got loader but didn't slow at all). I was even more impressed coming down I didn't have to use any brakes ( held speed exact ) , The Hybrid electric motors/generators held vehicle at correct speed. I was on very steep paved mountain road in Arizona held at 50 mph on very steep grade (the noise of electric motors/ generators made did get louder, 3 times on very steep areas ) I was also on steep paved Interstate 70 in Colorado held 70 to 80 mph without braking, only had to brake around five different times in 280 miles through Colorado when other vehicles going slow got into fast lane. I did drive through light snow in New Mexico and Arizona, no problem of gripping the road. Very Happy !
  • Rav4 LE Hybrid delivers on performance and style

    While I would have enjoyed one of the higher trim models, Toyotas come at a premium price, so the LE is what I could afford. That's not to say the LE is a stripped vehicle. It comes with plenty of standard features to keep you happy, certainly everything you need to travel comfortably and safely down the highway. It's just that the interior looks a little spartan at this trim level. It's like the fabrics and textures chosen, blend a bit too well. Nothing pulls your focus or excites your senses. It is a comfortable place to spend even long hours of travel however. Where the Rav4 shines in my opinion, is when you step on the gas. It delivers very impressive acceleration at any speed, while maintaining impressive fuel economy. I enjoy the solid feel and good handling, especially on curvy wet roads. The ride is very smooth but never floaty or loose. The AWD does it's job without a hiccup. Even though I drive the base model, people really notice this car. Several have actually asked to take a look inside and spent some time walking around it. If my base model LE, albeit bland, gets this kind of attention, I can only imagine the looks the high end models get. All in all the Rav4 offers good looks, excellent performance and handling, bullet proof reliability and value that's tough to beat.
  • Like it, but not crazy about it anymore

    I own the basic trim, and honestly my main disappointment is gas millage. Also the engine is kind of loud and Toyota didn't add any type of sound proof material under the hood. I'm happy with the drive assistant system but Entune is a joke, really doesn't work good with an Android. My other concern is that for the money I paid, I know I could have bought another good SUV with extra styling details (rims included etc.) & a better guarantee. But well, I fell for Toyota's reputation.
